i’m genuinely excited for the columnist project we’ve been assigned in language. i’ve always believed in the importance of education, but not solely limited to education provided in a public setting as a school, but also in current affairs. i’ll have to admit that as of late, i haven’t been keeping up and informing myself to such a degree that i feel comfortably well-versed to speak openly on such subjects and issues. subjects and issues we’re bound to inherit or see recurring throughout the span of our adulthood. i just get this feeling that as high school youth, the scope of our concern is really quite limited to what’s in front of us; issues that pertain to us, our well-being or enjoyment, issues that, in retrospect, will probably be quite trivial in contrast to what’s out there. i realize that’s quite normal for us, to direct our main concerns to the right here, now. but there is just so much out there, waiting for us to delve into. i think it amazing that with due time, we will all have explored our opinions thoroughly and develop our own set of unique stances and will have that passion to uphold those notions for the betterment of something larger than ourselves. i’m not quite sure which direction i was heading with this, but it’s safe to say these strange thoughts have been conjured up by this columnist project and the ability to soon vote, i suppose! i’m excited.
on a side note, i’m going to try writing regularly again. the best way to get better is to just keep doing it, simple as that. and i was a little rusty on my essay today (but hopefully she thinks otherwise, haha). just thoughts, opinions, responses to things, etc., anything to keep the flow going. you’ll be hearing more from me!
